Korean food : Samgyetang



Samgyetang, a ginseng chicken soup, is the most common and famous health food eaten on bongnal (the hottest period in summer). It is believed to cool the body during hot and humid days. A chicken, just enough for a single serving, is stuffed with ginseng, garlic, jujube and sweet rice. Samgyetang is not only seasonal food but also the best medicine for hot summer.


Recipe

Ingredient  : Chicken 100g, Ginseng 30g,  glutinous rice 200g
                   Peeled chestnuts 50g, garlic 30g, jujube 30g, salt 5g,  some pepper
                                


1. Cut the chicken's tail and wash inside the chicken thoroughly.
2. Rinse the glutinous rice cleanly and soak that in water.
3. Hold in place with skewers the chicken's neck so that it's neck can't open.
4. Stuff the soaked glutinous rice, Ginseng, Peeled chestnuts, garlic, jujube inside the chicken.
5. Make cuts in the skin of the chinken's legs and crossing the chinken's legs, tie the legs not to come untied.
6. Pour water into a pot and put the chicken. Add the rest of the ingredients and cover the pan. Boil until the chicken is cooked through..
7. Remove all the scum that rises to the surface. After it is cooked through, season with salts, pepper.
